Weathernews has signed an MOU with the Laos Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment's Department of Meteorology and Hydrology regarding the sharing of weather data

The 4th such agreement with countries in Southeast Asia, MOU is aimed at developing meteorological business in Laos

   Weathernews Inc. (head office: Mihama-ku Chiba-shi Chiba, Japan; CEO: Chihito Kusabiraki) and the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology, Ministry of Natural Resource and Environment (DMH, location: Vientiane, Laos, Director General: Khanmany Khounphonh) of the People's Democratic Republic of Laos (hereinafter Laos) announced today that they concluded a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on March 15th, regarding mutual cooperation in the exchange of observational data and weather alerts in Laos, with the aim of developing the local meteorology business. In the future, Weathernews will begin offering meteorological services to local companies in cooperation with DMH, in order to reduce damages due to floods, and contribute to economic development.

   As we develop our business in Asia, Weathernews has been strengthening databases through the exchange of data with each country's meteorological agency. This latest cooperative relationship agreement with the government of Laos is our 4th in Southeast Asia, after Indonesia, Vietnam, and the Philippines. As a global company that deals with weather risks, we will continue our work in Asia to reduce damage and contribute to economic development by making an ally of the weather.
