Weathernews Listed on First Section of Tokyo Stock Exchange
Weathernews Inc. announced today the listing of its shares on the First Section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
Weathernews was originally listed in December 2000 on NASDAQ Japan (current Nippon New Market "Hercules"), run by the Osaka Securities Exchange, making it the first weather information company in the private sector worldwide to be publicly traded. Subsequently, in December 2002, Weathernews was listed on the Second Section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange. The company's listing on the First Section is effective today.
Since its founding in 1986, Weathernews has provided weather-related risk consulting (RC) services to corporations and government entities. The company has gradually expanded its services so that today it even provides weather information to individuals via mobile phones and CS broadcasting. It now provides weather information services globally, with about 750 employees in 36 offices located in 13 countries and regions.
