IPCC Chair Jim Skea Visit to Weathernews
On October 25th, Jim Skea, Chair of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC)* visited the Weathernews headquarters in Chiba, Japan.
As a world’s leading private weather company working advanced climate change, Prof. Skea visited our headquarters to see and exchange opinions for the latest weather and climate technology.
We discussed the important roles that private weather companies play in addressing climate change and hopes of the possibility that the Government, international organizations, and private companies collaborate with each other.
In order to support responses to recent natural disasters, which are becoming more severe and frequent due to global warming, we will incorporate AI and other technologies into our weather and climate data, and create new services that lead to “mitigation” of global warming, which contributes to reducing CO2 emissions, while focusing on “adaptation” to climate change.
*The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) was created in 1988 by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) for assessing the science related to climate change.
