to distribute information on the weather around the affected area, to help prevent secondary disasters

Jakarta Office >

An earthquake and tsunami hit the island of Sulawesi Indonesia on September 28, and as of October 12, the number of resulting deaths has exceeded 2,000, while the search for missing persons continues. Weathernews, Inc. (head office: Mihama-ku Chiba-shi Chiba, Japan; CEO: Chihito Kusabiraki) has set up a "Special Indonesia Earthquake Site" in order to support relief and restoration work, etc. for the prevention of secondary disasters, and to help ensure the safety of victims. On this site, 1-hour weather, weekly weather, weather radar, and satellite images are posted in Indonesian, Japanese and English. We will be adding information aimed at areas hit by the disaster, such as methods for securing lighting during power outages, and sanitation measures in flood-hit areas. We hope that the information we provide will be of some help to the local people evacuated due to the disaster, and for future relief and restoration work.
