Broadening Support Mitigation of Weather Risks and Natural Disasters in Asia

Weathernews Inc. (Chiba, Japan; Chihito Kusabiraki/CEO) announced the opening of their new office from September 3rd in the Republic of Vietnam. The new office in the capital city of Hanoi is the third that Weathernews has established in Asian emerging nations, and represents a commitment to developing weather sensing infrastructure and risk communication services outside Japan in Southeast Asia.

Vietnam is a country affected by many tropical weather risks like typhoons and monsoons because of its precipitous topography and mountain ranges near the sea. This also puts the country at risk of damage from flooding and landslides. Weathernews will to apply the years of experience forecasting similar weather risks in Japan to support efforts in Vietnam to mitigate damage and other natural disasters, and expand the coverage of the unique sensory infrastructure that is the backbone of Weathernews risk communications services.

New Office in Hanoi Will Be the Third Weathernews Office in Asian Emerging Nations

Along with providing risk communication service that supports risk mitigation of natural disasters in the diverse markets of Japan until this, we have been advancing the development of proprietary sensory infrastructure like WITH radar (currently eighty installations in Japan) and TSUNAMI Radar. A year before the official opening of the new office in Hanoi, Weathernews and Vietnam’s National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting (NCHMF) signed a memorandum of understanding concerning mutual cooperation for exchanging weather information and further developing weather sensing networks. Along with mitigating the risks of weather and natural disasters in Vietnam, Weathernews is going to expand its business presence in the region, and develop service for other ASEAN countries, too.
