Weathernews launches project with the Myanmar Department of Meteorology and Hydrology to preserve and use weather observation data to curtail climate

On November 29th, Weathernews Inc. entered an agreement with the Myanmar Department of Meteorology and Hydrology (DMH) to work on digitizing weather observation data from 128 locations in Myanmar, in connection with a 2018 MoU (memorandum of understanding) regarding data exchange.

The management of meteorological data from past observations is a challenge at the DMH. Therefore, our company will collaborate with the DMH to preserve and utilize their weather data by converting it to digital form.

Weathernews will analyze data from weather observations and natural disasters in Myanmar from approximately the past 30 years, with the aim of mitigating risks from the natural disasters associated with climate change, that have been increasing in recent years.
